Painting and thinking of the perfect spot to just hideaway and enjoy a tropical paradise is how this came about. Painted in the studio as an homage to one of my former artist teachers Darrell Hill. I tried to capture the essence of the sunset skies, the waves lapping the beach, the thick grove of coconut palms sheltering the traditional Maui plantation style cottage that you frequently see around the islands.
