February brings warm days and cool nights and best of all??.... three art-filled weekends with Maui Open Studio. The Annual Maui Open Studios Event (MOS) in its 10th year, is modeled after open studio events held annually all over the mainland in art-loving parts of the country. This is a free self-guided tour of artist studios and exhibition spaces. Artists pay a registration fee to participate and the event is free for the public to enjoy. Have one-on-one interactions with artists and artisans, learn about what inspires us artists, talk story and purchase art directly from the artists. Artist venues on tour range from gallery settings, home studios, outdoor venues to other alternative exhibition spaces. The event is a great opportunity for artists and art collectors to connect.
Printed guidebooks and online artist directory guides visitors to the artist studios and exhibition spaces around the island of Maui. During the event, there are street signs directing you to artist locations.
My studio Diane Snoey Appler Fine Art , pictured above, will be open weekend #1, Feb. 8th and 9th here in the Wailea area 11 AM to 6 PM. Its my 4th year participating in open studios here on Maui. Previously, I participated in Silicon Valley Open Studios with my California scenes that can be viewed on my website. But my love of everything Maui- the scenery, the soft air, the warm waves and tropical foliage all called to me in my heart and I made the move here to capture these feelings in my art. My specialty is oil painting seascapes, landscapes and commissioned work.
I can work from your photos or from a live scene. My exhibit will have a selection of original oil paintings, giclee canvas reproductions, giclee paper prints for sale, plus refreshments and a raffle to win a reproduction of your choice! As a special offering I will have a selection of works where some or all the proceeds will be donated to the Lahaina Arts Guild, a charity I support, providing art education in elementary schools.
Come visit me and the other artists whose work calls to you. Enjoy experiencing all kinds of art and art-related events in February here in Maui. Personally, I think it’s why the whales come back every year 😉
--Diane Snoey Appler is a featured artist at the Wailea Beach Resort every Monday and is Vice president of Lahaina Arts Guild, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.
