The hotels and resorts in the area of Wailea have done some upgrades and remodels so we like to check them out!
Grand Wailea is grand in presentation and the fountains and reflecting pools are pretty as you walk the grounds.
The Grand Wailea did a remake of their Humuhumu Restaurant with millions spent in the remodel. The bar is like a doughnut where the doughnut is a plexiglass aquarium full of tropical fish!
Looking below my shrimp plate you can see the coral and fish go by. Tasty, made me full of guilt, but tasty. Expensive, I think this was $30., but it comes with entertainment via the fish. And the kids who run up and bump you trying to see the fish.
Hotel Wailea and the Birdcage Bar was the next stop and you are greeted with more understated elegance, the flowers, the waterfall entry.
The hotel is adult only but the dining can be kids, but we were in the Birdcage Bar and that is pretty adult. I wrote it up elsewhere when I did try their burger, and it was very good. Cocktails are finely crafted and dishes for the appetizers are bird themed.
The drive entry is so pleasant, filled with palms. This spot is not on the ocean but it has a marvelous view while dining.
It's like a vacation going out to happy hour or dinner in Wailea. The views, the choices. All so good. Why leave the island?
