A year ago I had one of the scariest days of my life- awaiting the verdict with the jury at the Lahaina Arts Society- will they think I am good enough to let me in?? My peers said YES!
Fast forward now, one year later, and I had my best month of art sales in October, and I am grateful to all of you who now treasure one of my works. It's a labor of love, no doubt about it. And I have made a lot of friends within the Society- they are fun-loving and joyful, doing what they love to do- paint, sculpt, shape molten glass, and hammer precious metals to make fine jewelry.
January 2017 will mark my first featured artist show, Banyan Tree Gallery, with an extensive body of work on display for viewing and purchasing. We'll have music entertainment, adult beverages, and some snacks on Friday, January 13th, 6-8 PM. ( An auspicious day for sure) It's an accomplishment for me, one I dreamed of years ago as I followed my heart to Maui. With that end in mind- I am busy painting to get some new works ready.
Pictured here is me in my studio and my trusty rescue kitty "Lilikoi" (Hawaiian for passion fruit- I call her my little "fruitcake" on her silly days- like this as she watches me paint from the hammock) in my Tradewinds Studio, she's monitoring every brushstroke as I capture "Paradise".
If you are planning a trip to Maui, be sure to stop by the Gallery. My exhibit will be on display in the Lahaina Arts Society Banyan Tree Gallery from Tuesday January 3rd through Monday February 6th, 2017. Open daily 9 am – 5 pm. See my work in person! Also note- anyone who would like to come visit my studio is welcome- give me a call and some advance warning so you'll know where to find me- in the studio or out on a plein air location somewhere.....
ALOHA! And Mahalo for an amazing year! --Diane
